Jenna (Warren) Johnson: 10 Year Update

Life took interesting changes when I arrived at Western Kentucky University after graduation.  I struggled with classes, could not settle on a major, and had a terrible car accident following my freshman year, so I returned home to spend a year at Volunteer State Community College.  I went back to WKU my junior year.  During my senior year, I was encouraged to go on a mission trip to Jamaica by my grandfather.  While mission work was the LAST thing on my mind in college, I agreed to go.  My life would never be the same.

It was on that mission trip when God opened my eyes to what He'd have me do after serving peanut butter and banana sandwiches to hungry children.  I immediately changed my major and graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  I taught Kindergarten for two years in Hendersonville, TN, and during that time was called to teach the children at a local church.  I worked hand in hand with their young pastor, Brian Johnson, who I'd met just years before on that mission trip to Jamaica.  After having never dated, Brian and I realized (over Starbucks) that God wanted us to be "more than friends" in January of 2007.  Two months later, we were married on March 31, 2007, and a year later, I quit my teaching job after God persuaded me to do so.

Since then, Brian and I have continued our work in the ministry.  He currently serves as a full-time pastor at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, TN.  I am blessed with the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom to our two young sons, Daniel (2) and Samuel (1).  I teach 4-6 year olds in Sunday school, direct Vacation Bible School, and enjoy crafting and painting in what spare time I am allowed.  I realize now that I have a huge responsibility to God for the life He has given me.  I have made many mistakes throughout this journey to here, but I know that those experiences have only made me stronger.  I am excited to see each of you, and I pray that your lives have been blessed!
